ASSAG stands for a midsized Swiss company acting in the drive technology, specialized in customized drive components and -systems since 1979. ASSAG is a pioneer in face gear technology and well known for its innovative solutions in differential drives and high-precision transmissions. We equip mobile working machines, we supply machine and tooling builders, we are in automotive and in medtec, we serve automation and robotics as well working with multiple other applications. We concentrate on the requirements of the application and design, supply components and assemblies for transmissions of all kind. With AVTEC and our manufacturing partners we are leading technically and commercially in our business sector.

Milestones

1979

Founding ASSAG as a Swiss subsidiary of the «Zahnradfabrik Altona Elbe» in Hamburg, Germany.

1982

Construction of Offices and Manufacturing building in Düdingen, Switzerland, triggered by the governmental support and economical development in Fribourg.

1996
ISO 9001 certification. Distributor for brands as Harmonic Drive, Expert, Eissenbeiss, Crown Gear, Kauermann and Siebenhaar
 
1999

ETH/KIT Project: active vibration damping for low vibration, noise reduced high precision machines. Introduction of the Brand ASSAG Evolvere for customized gear systems.

2003

ASSAG takes over Crown Gear B.V., Netherlands.

2005

ASSAG grows up to the market leader in crown gear engineering and sales. The production was tripled and new subsidiaries in Austria, Italy and Germany were founded.

2009

ASSAG becomes founding member of the Swiss association «Swiscleantech» under the guidance of the clean tech pioneer Bertrand Piccard.

2012 March
ASSAG founded the subsidiary CGP BV in Hengelo, Netherlands, and took over the production of the Cyclo crown gears of Norma UPS. CGP stands for Crown Gear Production.
 
2012 May

ASSAG was acquired by AVTEC, New Delhi, belonging now tpo the CK Birla Group. AVTEC is leading in production of drive trains for automotive markets. Due to this partnership, there are multiple synergies, mainly increasing commercial competitiveness for serial production.

2015

ASSAG moves with machining centres from Netherlands to Hosur/India to gain synergies in the manufacturing process.

2018

ASSAG undertakes a 3 years restructuring process and defines the position for future requirements.

2022

ASSAG introduces the new corporate identity and focuses on new defined application oriented strategy.
